Several weeks ago my Sisters and Mom (in law) and I put on a baby shower for our dear cousin. I love to throw a party with these ladies. Actually, if the truth were to be known…I love to do pretty much anything with these gals. I have been blessed beyond measure, with sisters and brothers galore. I am the oldest of 6 kids, and my husband belongs to a family of 8. Toss in spouses, parents, nieces and nephews and you have yourself a regular support system of wonder. Love every last one of them, we do. I hope I can remember all of their names, right up until the day I die.
Kidding. You know that, don’t you? I totally know all of their names (except that one) and could tell you fabulous things about every last soul, if I had a spare 10 days to write this post. But as I sit here with time a ticking by I am aware that you most likely didn’t come here to listen to me blabber on about my cool family.
Even thought they are, man.
They really are.
How would you like to see some easy (and cheap) things we put together for the baby shower? I thought you might. Ok then, let’s do it.
I grabbed some disposable table clothes, napkins and ribbon at Walmart. Set me back just a little more than $10.
My daughters and I used them to decorate the house a bit. We cut up the table cloths and napkins and strung them around here and there to pretty the place up (sorry about the dim lighting…a professional photographer I am not).
Cute napkins and scrap ribbon are a great (and SUPER cheap) way to give a little bit of color to a party. You can find a tutorial on how to tie a junk bow like the one in this picture by clicking here.
My sisters put together these Turkey Cucumber Wedding Sandwiches. Man, are they good.
We ate some chips with it. You can’t tell there are chips in the basket? I suppose you’ll just have to trust me, when I say we had chips.
Chips in a pretty basket with napkins tied like bows on it.
My sisters brought these yummy salads. From left to right they are Raspberry Cream Cheese Pretzel Salad, Creamy Bacon, Tomato and Ranch Pasta Salad and Kneaders Turkey Cranberry and Sunflower Salad with Raspberry Poppyseed vinaigrette.
I made some Gooey Sweet Coconut Chex Mix (otherwise known as Bomb Diggity) and tossed some of those mini Cadburry Eggs into it at the end. Good glory, it was a good choice.
My sister Mary got busy and made some cute graphics she wrapped around bags of popcorn for party favors.
Cute!
She also made some White Chocolate Popcorn using blue Candy Melts. Also, notice that the cute silver backgrounds are cupcake liners. Clever girl.
We also had a yummy Pecan Cake (recipe coming soon), Lemon Tarts, Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats…
and some Almond Butter Sugar Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting.
It was a great day! I hope you found some new ideas. Have a great weekend, everyone. See you back here on Monday…new recipe coming just for you.
